COMICS, ILLUSTRATION AND ANIMATION

Halfords

Comic artist for “Halfords Heroes”, a series used to explain the different services that Halfords offers along with showing good examples of how to communicate with customer (January 2013 - present)

Responsibilities

- Transforming and editing word documents into comic scripts

- Thumbnailing comic pages to determine layout

- Rough sketching, pencilling, inking, panelling and lettering the final comics

- Making sure that the comics communicate clearly to their intended audience.


National Grid Metering

Designer of visual content for training software catering to National Grid staff and clients

(March 2009 - March 2011)

Responsibilities

- Designing the graphical user interface and all illustrated and animated content.

- Communicating with the project team to discuss the content development and its suitability for the target audience.

- Working with the interactive development team to make sure the content runs as planned.

- Organising evaluation sessions with potential users and using the data collected to make changes to the software design.

- Working towards specific deadlines and managing the project accordingly.


Birmingham Institute of Art and Design

Developing a series of animated videos about photography basics, aimed at first-year BA Photography students (2008 - 2009).

Responsibilities

- Planning and producing the content for each video.

- Communicating with people according to their expertise (learning technology experts and photography tutors).

- Choosing and directing a suitable voice actor for the video narration.

- Organising evaluation sessions with potential users and using the data collected to make changes to the software design.

- Working towards specific deadlines and managing the project accordingly.


INSTRUCTIONAL DESIGN

SKILLS:

TECHNICAL

- I'm proficient with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and 2D animation using Adobe Flash and Smith Micro Anime Studio Pro.

- I'm competent with Actionscript 2 and 3, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Premiere, Adobe InDesign and Apple Final Cut Pro.

- I can create low to mid-fidelity prototypes using paper, Power Point and Flash.

- I can confidently use office software such as Microsoft Word, Power Point and Excel.

- I have some knowledge of  web design, tools and coding.
